Methods and Simulations for the Dark Energy Survey

Simulations

• 3 10,313 sq. degree galaxy catalogs complete to r~26.5 and z=2.35
• Each simulation is built on N-body lightcones constructed on the fly
• Galaxies are populated using ADDGALS, and include positions, velocities, observed magnitudes, SEDs, SFHs, ellipticities and sizes
• Weak lensing statistics for all galaxies via high resolution ray-tracing using CALCLENS
• 18 DES Y1 footprints with realistic photometric errors and photo-zs
• Each footprint comes with simulated Gold, redMaGiC, redMaPPer, and metacalibration samples
